News about the firing of Chad Holtz, one of my blogging friends, over his views on hell (among other things), made national news in the U.S. today.
It's no secret that I completely agree with Chad on this particular subject. I've written several posts on the issue of salvation, hell and eternal life over the last few months and years. I've preached about it, I've talked about it to friends, and frankly I'm happy no one has even tried to get me fired because of my views, even though I pastor a relatively conservative evangelical church.
Here is my question to you:
How important is a person's / pastor's view on hell? What potential harm do you see for believers or potential believers if a certain view is preferred over others? Would C.S. Lewis qualify as a hero or a heretic if his views on hell were scrutinized?
