I'm currently working on my message for Christmas Eve and was thinking about using Jesus' call to become like children in order to enter the realm where God's vision and dream for us are becoming a reality - along with the miracle and mystery of His own coming as a child. I'd like to focus in particular on the aspects of children's ability to marvel (the mystic aspect), their sense of security tied to the love and care they receive (the aspect of trust), and the attitude of dependence stemming from the recognition of their own helplessness (the aspect of humility).
The challenge is (as always) to communicate ancient wisdom in fresh ways which not only will capture the attention and interest of the listeners but also be practical and motivate to see our lives in a new light and take actual steps towards experiencing that new vision. I'd appreciate everyone's prayers and also any comments you may have.
always tough to make stuff like this feel fresh. i will definitely be praying for that. perhaps illustrations from current events or cultural icons could help.
