The quest for the historical Jesus

If you've ever wondered what to make of the different angles in the first 3 gospels and their vast difference to John's gospel and how to respond to the historic dismantling in the so-called "Jesus Seminar", I trust that you'll find the following lecture by Luke Timothy Johnson very enlightening and helpful. It not only helps us to understand the connection with the person of Jesus and the impact of his resurrection on those who became the authors of the New Testament books but also how historical research always needs to look beyond the mere facts. You can either try the direct link I found here, or if you're a Mac user I also uploaded it to my Google Documents folder and you should be able to watch or download it here.
