Well, folks, this might come as a surprise to some of you but I'm shutting down the blog and I have no idea when or if at all I'll be back. It's not about writer's block or that I've run out of material, quite the contrary. As a matter of fact, I am more enthused and feel as passionate as ever about the whole blogging thing. And I could easily think of dozens of subjects I'd love to think through and then communicate my thoughts to those who are interested in reading them and/or discussing them.
Blogging for me is one of those things that fall in the category of "life-giving" which I mentioned in one of my posts last week. It's not just a creative outlet but also an opportunity to express myself and interact with others on a deeper level. I DO enjoy it a lot, maybe a little bit too much!
I was challenged by someone very dear to me "to return to the real world". And as much as I hate to admit it, I do get the point. Something can be extremely enjoyable and even wholesome (in itself), but at the same time interfere with other things and people I should be pursuing with even greater passion and effort. Blogging CAN be an escape!
So it really comes down to prioritizing and making the right choice. I'm anything but a balanced person, you could even call it an addictive personality, that's why this has become an issue in the first place. There are important things I need to deal with right now and I can't promise that the outcome will be a whole different "me" who actually can appropriately give time and attention to family, friends, church and the blog in a balanced way. If this is going to become an "either-or" issue (and it might), I'm not going to choose the blog. It's as simple as that.
Sorry if that comes as a disappointment to some of you but I think you'll understand.
So maybe this is just "Good bye, see you later!" or "Farewell, my friends, it's been fun - may God be with you wherever you go!"
