There has been much discussion about the proper relationship between Christian faith and works throughout the centuries. Some emphasize that salvation is by faith alone (without any works - Ephesians 2:8-9), others emphasize that faith without works is dead, in other words: it is no real faith to begin with (James 2:26).

It's neither faith nor works that can stand on its own but it is love as the expression of faith and its active ingredient that ties both together.
